Storr Office Environments Buys Interior Design Services

 

(TAMPA BAY)  May 19, 2006 – Storr Office Environments, Inc., based in Raleigh, NC has acquired Interior Design Services of Florida, Inc. (IDS).

 

IDS, owned by entrepreneur Karen Arnold, is a full-service office furniture dealer offering space planning, installation, refurbishment, asset management and move services.  The company is one of Tampa Bay’s largest office furniture dealers with revenues of over $20 million.  It is the area’s exclusive distributor of products by Steelcase, Inc., the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer with annual sales of $2.6 billion.

 

Storr, also a Steelcase dealer, has offices in Raleigh and Greensboro North Carolina and will keep its showroom and warehouse in the Tampa area. The company will be operated as Storr Office Environments of Florida, Inc. and will have local ownership. Kyle Doezema will serve as principal of the company and Karen Arnold will work as a key member of the transition team.

 

According to Arnold, “I am so pleased that the organization our IDS team has built is becoming a part of a larger regional enterprise.  We have been successful in providing a collection of products and services that enhance our clients’ work environment, and the merger with Storr allows us to take it to the next level.”

 

Doezema said he hopes to grow the business by offering additional products and services that meet customer needs. “In our other markets we have been very successful at being a sole source provider,” he said.  “The regional concept helps us more effectively serve our customers by providing greater corporate resources, creating greater infrastructure efficiencies to help us be the low-cost provider, attracting the best talent and sharing best business practices.”

 

Storr has achieved significant success in North Carolina. The current management team came to Raleigh in 1992 and has grown the company over 300% in the past 13 years. They acquired the Greensboro operations in 2003 and have grown that operation by over 300% in just three years. Revenues for the two companies exceeded $40 million in 2005.  Storr also is very strong financially, reinvesting its profits so that there is no long-term debt on its balance sheet.
