SUMMARY:2015 Healthcare Forum
DESCRIPTION:Affordable Care Act: A Roadmap for Architects\, Designers + Facility Managers\nAttendees will learn three key features of the Affordable Care Act and the effect good design and facilities can have on them:  the Hospital Value-based Purchasing program; the Readmission Reduction program; and the Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction program.   The decisions that architects\, facilities staff\, and designers make have a direct impact on the reimbursement rates associated with these initiatives. \nOur keynote speaker\, Eileen Malone\, will provide workable suggestions and ideas around the features to consider when making furniture and finish selections for medical facilities.  After her presentation\, we will host a panel discussion about the topics she covers\, and address the more localized issues that we deal with in North Carolina. Eileen’s presentation will be good for AIA and EDAC CEU credits. \nAgenda:\n11.30am  networking/lunch\n12:15pm  keynote speaker\n1:00pm    panel discussion\n1:45pm    break\n2:00pm    Sherwin Williams CEU\n3:30pm    Event ends \n\nSherwin Williams CEU: New Coatings to Support Cleaner and Fresher Healthcare Environments\nTraditionally considered solely in terms of color and finish\, commercial paint has been technologically advanced to now deliver much more to a healthcare environment than a sense of calm. You will learn these advanced architectural- grade coatings can help to improve the indoor  environment of healthcare facilities\, how they support new cleaning and sanitation protocols\, and how they can even help to reduce odors so that the facility smells fresher. These high- performance coatings now generate real value for facility owners and give architects and designers the ability to specify a wall coating that is visually stimulating and can help to improve indoor air quality. \n\nKeynote Speaker: Eileen Malone \nEileen Malone\, RN\, MSN\, MS\, EDAC is the Senior Partner for Mercury Healthcare Consulting\, LLC located in Alexandria\, Virginia\, who supports clients embracing evidence-based design in health facility projects as a means to help improve healthcare outcomes. With over forty years in healthcare\, Ms. Malone retired from the United States Army in 2004 having held a variety of key leadership positions including hospital commander (CEO)\, Army Medical Department CIO\, Congressional Affairs Officer\, quality assurance nurse\, and several nurse practitioner assignments. She holds graduate degrees from Duke University and the National Defense University and is Evidence-based Design Accredited and Certified. In addition to many military awards\, Eileen received The Center for Health Design’s Changemaker Award in 2009 and the Leadership Award from the Health Information and Management Systems Society in 2004. \n
