The winning school will receive a purpose-built makerspace that supports:

2024 Winner Spotlight: The Exploris School
In 2024, The Exploris School was selected as the Make A Positive Impact Learning Edition winner. Together with our manufacturing partners, we transformed their counseling space into a welcoming, functional, and student-centered environment.
The Impact
The transformation of the counseling area created lasting benefits for The Exploris School community:
Enhanced Well-Being
Students reported feeling more comfortable and secure in the new, more private and cozy environment — positively influencing their willingness to seek support.
Improved Functionality
The flexible design now supports a variety of needs, from individual counseling sessions to group discussions. Improved room flow creates a cohesive space fully dedicated to student success.
Stronger Connections
The updated layout fosters more meaningful engagement, helping staff build stronger relationships and communicate more effectively with students.
Community Pride
The project reinforced the school’s commitment to social-emotional learning and created a renewed sense of pride in a space designed specifically to support students.

Contest Details
Open To: Public, private, charter and magnet schools serving students in grades K-12 in the Triad, Triangle and Eastern regions of North Carolina with more than 125 students. See our county eligibility Map.
Application Period: March 15th – April 15th
Winner Announced: April
Expected Installation: July (Summer Break / Track Out)
