Storr and Steelcase are excited to host the 2023 Education Symposium: Designing Spaces for Immersive Learning! Please join us for a research share on the emerging topic of Immersive Learning.  Our session will include a deep dive into specific zoning and design principles for teaching and learning environments, as well as a facilitated dialog on evolving space to serve students and educators in their Immersive Learning goals. Following the discussion, we invite you to ‘play in the sandbox’ at our WorkBetterLab and see firsthand the elements that make up Steelcase’s Immersive Learning zones.     PRESENTERS: Marisa Sergnese has over 25 years of experience working in a variety of educational settings as a teacher, consultant, adjunct faculty member and school administrator.  As a learning strategist, her focus is on designing engaging, inclusive learning sprints to support educators’ attention to the use of physical space to enhance opportunities for meaningful, authentic student learning experiences. She is instrumental in networking educators both nationally and internationally to advance growth mindset, skill development and research projects. Her understanding and practice of the change management process, coupled with a focus on developing growth mindsets that influence school culture, are key attributes to her practice as a principal consultant with the Steelcase Learning group. Working in both virtual and face-to-face interactions with faculty and leaders to effectively shift to more learner-centered teaching and learning environments promoting higher-order thinking skills, Marisa brings awareness to how physical space impacts behaviors that support both students and educators with their wellbeing and emerging skillsets. Paul Noll is a Principal Researcher in the WorkSpace Futures group at Steelcase Inc., responsible for exploring the impact of technology on work.  This includes leading and participating in strategy discussions, translational research initiatives, and designing and building prototypes and experiential demonstrations.  These responsibilities require Paul to provide insight on technology applications, engineering specifications, development cycles, and general technology trends and horizons. Paul has researched and explored a wide variety of topics for Steelcase, helping create a strong research network of experts across many different fields.  He has led and participated in many diverse projects and assignments such as immersive experiences (AR/VR/XR), HCI technologies and applications, AI explorations, cognitive augmentation, sensing initiatives, 3D printing, and knowledge management. He is currently credited with 18 patents. Paul has worked in the architectural and construction fields, holds an MS in Engineering Management (WMU), a BS in Math/Physics (St Joseph’s), and resides in Grand Rapids, MI.   REGISTRATION:
