December 12, 2013 (Raleigh, NC) – Storr Office Environments, the leader in office furniture and related services, was recognized yesterday at the Triangle Business Journal‘s 2013 Healthiest Employers Awards.

25 local companies were honored at the awards presentation.  These awards recognize companies and nonprofits that commit to making wellness a priority while proactively shaping the health of their employees. Winning companies completed an online assessment and this non-biased measurement scored wellness programs in comparison to regional and national employers. Companies were ranked on everything from culture to strategic planning to marketing.

Storr Office Environments provides team members with a comprehensive wellness program called Fit Life. This program challenges team members to focus on their health and wellbeing by including exercise and good nutrition into their daily routine. In return, participants can receive healthcare premium discounts, smoking cessation incentives up to $950 and cash incentives.  Storr provides an on-site treadmill walk-station, healthy snacks options, educational seminars, weight loss challenges, online wellness assessments and training, on-site biometric screenings, involvement in community events like races and walks and overall leadership encouragement to encourage team members.

Over the years, Storr has seen an increase in participation in the Fit Life program. In 2013, over 60% of team members participated.

“As a business owner, one of my personal goals is to have a positive impact on all of our team members,” said Tom Vande Gutche, CEO of Storr Office Environments. “We look at this holistically by encouraging and helping our team members achieve financial, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness.  We do these things for their personal benefit, but we also recognize that we, as an organization, will be better if our people are achieving wellness in their personal lives.”

“Our team members continually rank the Fit Life program as one of the best programs available at Storr,” said Colleen Muldoon, Director of Human Resources at Storr Office Environments. “We are glad to see such outstanding participation and hope to only improve our wellness programs going forward.”

2013 marks the second year in a row Storr Office Environments was recognized as one of the healthiest employers in the triangle by the Triangle Business Journal. In 2012, Storr was ranked #7 out of 20. In 2013, Storr was ranked #19 out of 25.
